Arsenal eyeing superstar forward for next summer

Arsene Wenger has already given the go ahead to a £20m swoop to get Marco Reus to Arsenal next summer, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Borussia Dortmund forward’s lowered release clause will kick in next summer, which is likely to see the majority of Europe’s big hitters enter the running for his signature.

And Wenger is keen to get a leg-up on the competition by authorising an offer of the sum for next year now.

Reus himself has recently rejected a new contract offer from the Bundesliga side – who are desperate to remove the get-out fee from the equation – as he’s aware of the mounting interest in his services.

Arsenal were linked with the German international all summer, but BVB were reluctant to sell after allowing big name front-man Robert Lewandowski to join bitter rivals Bayern Munich.

Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid have all also been linked with the 25-year-old, but the Gunners are hopeful that their strong contingent of players from Reus’ homeland may persuade him to choose the Emirates Stadium.
