Gunners chief Arsene Wenger’s options in the centre of the pitch have been greatly reduced in recent weeks, with the likes of Mikel Arteta, Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla having been lost to lengthy injuries, leaving the Frenchman reliant upon an ageing Mathieu Flamini.
And reports claim that the London club are ready to react, with Carvalho and Neves being looked at.
The defensive midfield pair – both Portugal internationals – are regulars in their club sides’ starting XIs, despite being 23 and 18-years-of-age respectively.
Carvalho is thought to be the top target, with the Emirates Stadium side having been watching his development for a few years.
Neves is another option, although the teenager is far less experienced and offers a more technical approach as apposed to the power of his compatriot.
Sevilla’s Grzegorz Krychowiak is also on Arsenal’s radar, but he’s extremely unlikely to be available for a move after signing a new contract at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in November.
