Arsenal are planning moves for Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Dortmund this summer as they look to add a top-class striker to their ranks, according to reports from Don Balon.
The Gunners remain in the running for the Premier League title despite their weekend loss at Manchester United, but one criticism directed at the London club has been a lack of quality up front.
Olivier Giroud has impressed for much of the campaign, but his form has dipped of late and reports claim that the club are looking at both Aubameyang and Higuain.
The Gabon and Argentina internationals are currently two of the world’s most feared centre-forwards, with the former having notched 29 goals in all competitions this term, while the latter is the second highest scorer in any of Europe’s top five leagues with 24 strikes – only Luis Suarez of Barcelona (25) has netted more.
It’s understood that Arsenal want BOTH of the players, but with the two currently at the peak of their powers it’s unlikely that they will move for a combined figure of under £110m-£120m.
Higuain is thought to be the preferred name of the two, with the ex-Real Madrid man a proven marksman at the highest level, while Aubameyang is currently only in his second prolific season at Dortmund.
