Arsenal eyeing up two South American stars

Arsenal are considering moves for Napoli’s Jorginho and Genoa’s Diego Perotti, according to Metro.

Their two respective clubs faced one another today and Arsene Wenger saw it as a golden opportunity to send chief scout Tony Banfield.

Sadly, he witnessed a 0-0 draw that was more about Genoa holding firm than a standout performance from any individual.

The Argentine Perotti would be the cheaper of the two targets. Having moved from Sevilla for just £2.3m in July 2014, The Gunners wouldn’t expect to pay more than £9m for the left winger.

It’s title chasing Napoli that will command a far larger fee for the Brazilian born Jorginho. He was signed for £7m in January 2014 and since then his reputation has continued to grow. He holds an Italian passport so would count as an EU player.

Working as a deep-lying midfielder he would add an extra dynamic to an already talented Arsenal side.
