Arsenal face fight to keep midfield sensation

Arsenal look set to face a fight to keep Aaron Ramsey away from Barcelona, with scouts from the Spanish giants watching the midfielder, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Welsh international has been, arguably, the finest player in the Premier League this season, with his top quality performances helping the Gunners to build a four point lead at the top of the table.

Arsene Wenger has lauded the 22-year-old recently, claiming that he is worth £50m.

But this has not deterred Barca, who are believed to be monitoring Ramsey’s progress.

The La Liga champions are thought to be planning for the future, with midfield icon Xavi now edging towards the closing years of his glittering career.

Scouts from the Catalans have watched the majority of Arsenal’s last five games, as well as Wales’ recent fixtures, to keep an eye on the youngster’s development.

The Nou Camp-based outfit have a history of raiding Arsenal for top players, and have successfully lured Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song away from North London in recent years.

Barca are also watching Daniel Agger of Liverpool, Chelsea’s David Luiz and Manchester City hot-shot Sergio Aguero – who was on target against West Brom last night – as they plan to overhaul their squad in the not too distant future.
