The attacking midfielder has been in phenomenal form since signing for Empoli in January 2015, finishing the current campaign with five goals and eleven assists in 33 Serie A appearances.
The former Italy U21 has also averaged an impressive 2.2 created chances, 2.1 successful dribbles and 2.1 shots per Serie A outing during the 2015/16 season.
That has generated plenty of interest in the 24-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window, with Gianluca Di Marzio mooting Arsenal, Juventus and Monaco as potential summer suitors.
Juventus appear to be the most keen on Saponara, but Arsenal are expected to be on the lookout for midfield additions with veteran trio Mathieu Flamini, Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky all leaving the Emirates.
The Italian rumour outlet claim Empoli will likely sell Saponara for around £11.5million.
