Arsenal face Serie A battle for young Croatian

Sime Vrsaljko (Genoa)Arsenal will have to fight off interest from Italian giants Napoli and Inter Milan if they are to secure a January deal for Genoa full-back Sime Vrsaljko, according to reports from talkSPORT.

The Gunners have been linked with the 21-year-old Croatian in recent weeks as Arsene Wenger steps up his plans to replace the soon-to-be out of contract Bacary Sagna.

Vrsaljko has emerged as on of Serie A’s finest young talents, and is not short of admirers.

As well as Arsenal, Napoli and Inter are keen and are believed to be ready to make winter moves to steal him away from their domestic rivals.

The youngster only joined Genoa over the summer from Dinamo Zagreb, but has already made a sufficient impact to be linked with a big move.

Napoli boss Rafael Benitez is thought to be ready to pay £8.5m, for his signature, a figure that Inter may also present.

Arsenal are rumoured to be just as keen as their continental rivals and could make a move by offering a similar fee.

Current Gunners right-back Bacary Sagna looks set to leave the Emirates Stadium next summer once his current contract expires, with Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain keen.

Should Arsenal look to keep Bacary Sagna? Or would Sime Vrsaljko be a better option?
