Arsenal failed in a sensational last minute swoop for Italian star Simone Zaza, reports talkSPORT.
The Metro suggests the Old Lady would have done business with the North London side if they had returned with a bid of around £22m.
Zaza, 24, who has represented his country on five occasions now faces increased competition for places following the arrivals of Mario Mandzukic, Juan Cuadrado and Paulo Dybla.
Arsene Wenger’s side were the only club in Europe’s top five leagues not to bring in an outfield player over the course of the summer, with goalkeeper Petr Cech being the singular addition to a squad that won the 2015 FA Cup.
Following their initial rejection, the Emirates outfit are understood to have walked away from negotiations, with Juventus unable to find a replacement due to the Italian window shutting at 11pm on Monday evening.
