Rumoured Arsenal transfer target Max Meyer is set to join Crystal Palace according to Sky Sports.

The 22-year-old is available on a free after leaving Schalke at the end of last season after publicly falling out with the club's Sporting Director Christian Heidel.

The Germany international joined Schalke as a youth player in 2009 and has gone on to make well over 100 Bundesliga appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals.

The midfielder had been linked with a move to Arsenal and Liverpool earlier in the summer but now it appears Roy Hodgson has convinced the talent to join Crystal Palace, and he will likely become the Eagles' second signing of the summer after goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.

Arsenal have themselves strengthened their midfield following the signings of Lucas Torreira and Mateo Guendouzi, and it appears Unai Emery has decided not to move for Meyer, despite the highly-rated talent being available on a free.
