Arsenal could have signed Barcelona striker Antoine Griezmann had they qualified for the Champions League in 2017, as revealed by David Ornstein in a live Q&A on The Athletic.
The World Cup winner moved to the Catalan giants in the summer after they paid the €120m (£103.6m) buyout clause to release the Frenchman from Atletico Madrid. However, there was an opportunity two years earlier that the Gunners did not capitalise on.
It is claimed that the France international would have moved to north London had Arsenal finished in the Premier League’s top four positions, per the aforementioned report.
