According to reports in The Guardian, Mikel Arteta is the strong favourite to replace Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager, and Gunners fans are excited about what he could do with winger Alex Iwobi, who earns £30,000-a-week according to the Daily Mail.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed that the Spanish coach worked hard with Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane on the training pitch this year to improve their play on the pitch, and that is something Iwobi could do with as his inconsistent performances continue to frustrate the Emirates Stadium faithful on Twitter.

The 22-year-old made 39 appearances in all competitions for the north London outfit during the 2017/18 campaign, scoring three goals and providing a further seven assists, but fans want to see more from him now Wenger has left.

Arsenal supporters have been discussing the potential of Arteta working with the Nigeria international via social media, and while one said "Arteta is going to get the best out of Iwobi", another said "I can already think of Iwobi becoming a world-beater under Arteta's tutelage".

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
