Arsene Wenger’s departure from Arsenal was long overdue but it would appear that the nature and timing of it has ensured that the search for the Frenchman’s successor only really started in earnest when he announced himself that he was to depart the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season.
In a similar way to how Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement knocked Manchester United for six and left them scrambling around to appoint a new manager at short notice, Wenger’s impending departure and the timing of its announcement could have caught the Gunners on the hop.
That means there is no obvious frontrunner for the top job at the Emirates, with new names emerging all the time.
The latest man to be linked – by Sky Sports – with the Gunners hotseat is Ralf Rangnick, of RB Leipzig but the natives are not convinced at all.
We look at the reaction to a man the Gunners fans really don’t want…
Stop it Robbie!!! Who the hell is he? Has he made the CL finals b4? How many times? With what team?
