In most cases, football clubs do not buy multiple goalkeepers in one transfer window, unless it is one for the fringes.

For Arsenal, though, it seems that manager Unai Emery wants to buy two shot-stoppers that are good enough to be number one.

The Spaniard has already acquired the signature of Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen, but it seems that he also wants Yann Sommer on board.

According to a report in Marca on Saturday, the Gunners are in talks with Borussia Monchengladbach regarding a deal for the Switzerland international, who has earned 39 caps for his country.

Emery has previously stated that he wants three strong goalkeepers, but if Sommer moves to the Emirates, there will have to be some outgoings.

It would surely pour doubt over the futures of David Ospina and current number one Petr Cech, who has been the main man in between the sticks since his arrival from Chelsea in 2015.

In response to the rumours about Sommer potentially becoming Emery's sixth signing of the window, plenty of Arsenal fans were left scratching their heads.
