Arsenal had an opportunity to recover from their 3-1 defeat to Manchester United when they took on Southampton at St Mary’s this afternoon.
The game did not go to plan, though, as Arsene Wenger’s team hd to settle for a 1-1 draw on away soil.
It could have been much worse for the North London outfit as the team were staring at another loss with two minutes of normal time remaining.
Charlie Austin put the Saints ahead in the third minute, but it was Olivier Giroud who somewhat saved the day for the Gunners as he found an equaliser before the final whistle blew.
Overall, it was a disappointing result for Arsenal, who reside fifth in the Premier League table, one point adrift of fourth.
Last weekend, Match of the Day pundits Alan Shearer and Ian Wright, as well as host Gary Lineker came under fire from Arsenal fans.
The trio were accused of being biased as they did not seemingly recognise that the Gunners were the better team against United.
Newcastle United legend Shearer sparked more fury from the Arsenal following when he launched a dig at the North London outfit on Twitter after the result at St Mary’s

Sarcasm is the lowest form of whit Mr Shearer!

I can’t believe Alan Shearer is still bitter about losing an FA Cup final to Arsenal and being one of the worst pundits on British television.

Maybe you should give management a try Alan and show everyone how it’s done?! 🧐

This is why Ex players with Stone Age mentality who quit school at the age of 10 shouldn’t be allowed to analyse anything
They just don’t have the tools of rationality and critical thinking to do so

If you can’t tell the difference between that and the United match, you really shouldn’t be working in football.

Your striker scored the winner for the other team! Whatever makes you feel better whilst your club is in that state 👍🤣

I can’t believe you’re not a manager with all that tactical knowledge
