Arsenal fans can’t decide on Leno links

Arsenal fans are split on a move for Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno, after reports claimed he is Unai Emery’s goalkeeper target this summer.

According to Kike Marin, Unai Emery wants Bayer Leverkusen’s Leno to be the number one for his new look Arsenal side.

Petr Cech has come under plenty of flak from Arsenal fans in the last couple of seasons, as more and more mistakes have started to creep into the veteran’s game.

However, if the goal is to eradicate mistakes at the back, then a move for Leno does seem bizarre, as the young German is prone to lapses of concentration himself.

The 26 year-old, who has also been linked with Liverpool, averaged just 1.2 saves per goal conceded this season, less than Cech’s 1.7.

The Reds are of course on the hunt for a new goalkeeper as well, after Loris Karius’ horror show in the Champions League final.

He’s not exactly elite in terms of distribution either, boasting a 70 per cent distribution accuracy, according to Squawka. Cech is slightly higher at 73 per cent, while Manchester City’s Ederson, known for his technical brilliance, boasts an incredible 87 per cent.

The German keeper is about to enter his prime, and does have some moments of brilliance in him, but his tendency to make costly mistakes has some fans concerned, and you can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below…
