Arsenal fans delighted as Matteo Guendouzi is called up to the France squad

Premiership Picks

It has been a fantastic start to the season for Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.

The 20-year-old has impressed early on, starting in all four games for the Gunners and registering a WhoScored rating of 7.35, which puts him at the top of Unai Emery’s squad.

Now, his campaign has just got even better. On Monday, he was called up to the senior France squad for the first time in his career as he replaced the injured Paul Pogba, who limped off the field following Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Southampton at the weekend. After four appearances for France’s U21s, Guendouzi now has his chance to shine at the highest level.

“It feels like a loss” – that was the view of a Spurs fan after this weekend’s North London Derby in the video below…

It is fair to say that the Emirates faithful are delighted with the news, and they clearly feel he deserves the opportunity to represent his country. They have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts, and you can see some of the best comments from the fans below.
