It has been a fantastic start to the season for Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.
Now, his campaign has just got even better. On Monday, he was called up to the senior France squad for the first time in his career as he replaced the injured Paul Pogba, who limped off the field following Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Southampton at the weekend. After four appearances for France’s U21s, Guendouzi now has his chance to shine at the highest level.
“It feels like a loss” – that was the view of a Spurs fan after this weekend’s North London Derby in the video below…
It is fair to say that the Emirates faithful are delighted with the news, and they clearly feel he deserves the opportunity to represent his country. They have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts, and you can see some of the best comments from the fans below.

Guendouzi was an unknown 18 year old when France won the World Cup. 14 months later and he’s broke into their squad. Amazing achievement and well deserved.

Guendouzi has been called up to the French national team as Pogba has pulled out due to injury. Very deserved for Mattéo, only 20 years old and involved with the best national team in world football ?? #AFC pic.twitter.com/rO5Vg9D8ae
