Arsenal are in pole position to reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League after an impressive 2-0 win away to AC Milan on Thursday night.

The Italians were unbeaten in their previous 13 matches coming into the first leg, but Arsene Wenger's side put their domestic woes behind them to score two first half goals through Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Aaron Ramsey.

The Gunners know that winning competition is the only way they can qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season, making it extra important for the under-fire outfit.

Fans were delighted to see their side bounce back from recent poor results to produce a fighting performance.

Particular praise was offered to Danny Welbeck, a striker who has had his game time limited to cup competitions for the most part this season. Though he didn't score, supporters were pleased with his hard working performance commitment to securing a victory.

It's unlikely he'll force his way into Wenger's first team plans beyond the Europa League, but can he produce the displays that helps them win a continental trophy?
