It was the one area where Unai Emery’s side were desperately short, and the signing of Barcelona man Denis Suarez in January did absolutely nothing to fix it.
The Gunners were lacking in real quality from the wide areas all season, and were often reliant on a wildly inconsistent Henrikh Mkhitaryan and the equally frustrating Alex Iwobi to provide them with some attacking threat.
But with recent updates suggesting that Dalian Yifang winger Yannick Carrasco could be on his way to the Emirates, many Arsenal fans took to Twitter to essentially remind the club that they already have one decent winger coming back into the first-team squad this summer.
England U21 international Reiss Nelson spent the last campaign out on loan at Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, and enjoyed a blistering start to life in Germany with six goals in 11 games.
The 19 year-old will most likely be in contention for a spot in Emery’s squad for next season, and his return was met by fans on Twitter demanding the club give him the opportunities he deserves.
The Gunners have already seen talented youngsters like Serge Gnabry leave for pastures new, and some on social media expressed their hope that the north London side wouldn’t be making the same mistake this around.
Check out some of the reaction of Arsenal fans on Twitter below:
I really hope we don’t Serge Gnabry this guy!

if reiss wasn’t on loan and we were actually signing him, people would be excited for a young talented winger. 110% agree he needs to be played

Agreed. Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah also need a chance to show what they can offer.
