The date is 17th August 2012 and Robin van Persie has just completed a £24m move from Arsenal to Manchester United.

Fans of the former are incensed that the Dutchman has been sold to one of their biggest rivals in the Premier League and many would have felt that the club would never allow such a transfer to happen again.

Fast-forward to January 2018 and Arsene Wenger's most prized asset, Alexis Sanchez, is following in van Persie's footsteps as he completes a switch to Old Trafford.

However, while RVP promptly won the league, the Chilean is floundering under Jose Mourinho with reports emerging that the £500,000-a-week star is already keen on an exit just ten months later.

Meanwhile, Unai Emery's side are looking in their best shape for years as they push for the esteemed top four spots. With Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette to name but a few, the London club have star quality and big names galore and the loss of Sanchez has been more or less forgotten.

Some discussion of the former Barcelona man still remains, however, as Gunners fans took to Twitter to debate a shock return to the Emirates...
