It had appeared as though Unai Emery was reluctant to name one captain at Arsenal.

The former Sevilla boss has previously stated that he likes to have a group of three to five players, all of whom can lead the team on the field at any point during the match.

That still remains the case, but he has now given the main responsibility to one man in particular. On Friday, during his pre-match conference ahead of the Manchester United game on Monday, he confirmed that Switzerland international Granit Xhaka will be given the captain's armband first moving forward.

The former Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder is one of the more senior players in the squad, having made 140 appearances for the north London outfit, and he has therefore been seen as a good choice to lead the dressing room.

Well, not for the Arsenal fans, perhaps. They have been reacting to the news on Twitter, and it is fair to say they are far from happy.
