Arsenal fans fear four-horsemen apocalypse as key star is ruled out of Swansea clash

The official starting Xis for Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Swansea City came in around 20 minutes ago with one notable omission – Gunners centre-back Laurent Koscielny, who is out with a ‘slight thigh injury’.

Many view the France international as the only truly world-class component of Arsenal’s defence and the north London outfit’s other options at centre-half leave a lot to be desired.

Indeed, Per Mertesacker found himself twisted inside out against Barcelona last week whilst Gabriel, who will take Koscielny’s place in the starting Xi this evening, hardly shrouded himself in glory as Manchester United put three past Arsenal on Sunday.

Perhaps most tellingly of all, all but two of the Gunners’ twelve Premier League clean sheets this season have come with the 30-year-old in the starting line-up.

So against a Swansea City side fighting for their lives near the bottom of the table, could Koscielny’s absence prove fatal for the home side this evening? And what about the north London derby at the weekend? Well, Arsenal fans are fearing for the worst on social media…
