Arsenal fans fuming with timing of Nacho Monreal’s departure

Premiership Picks

After six-and-a-half years with Arsenal, Nacho Monreal’s stay at the Emirates has finally come to an end.

The Gunners confirmed via their official club website that the 33-year-old has signed for Real Sociedad on a permanent deal, and reports have revealed he has penned a two-year contract with the Spanish side.

The veteran Spaniard started all three of Arsenal’s Premier League games so far this season, and leaves Unai Emery with just the currently injured Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac as his options at left-back.

After hearing news that Monreal had left the club, Arsenal fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts about the situation.

Many Gunners supporters felt slightly annoyed by the timing of the Spain international’s departure, and questioned why the north London side would allow him to leave before the north London derby on Sunday.

Some fans raised their concerns about having Sead Kolasinac play against Spurs, and insisted the Bosnian’s defensive standards are nowhere near as good as Monreal’s.
