With his Sideshow Bob hair, Matteo Guendouzi is quite an easily discernible figure on the football pitch. And after embroiling himself in an altercation early on in the game against Standard Liege on Thursday, he became an easy target for the Belgian side's supporters.

Whilst taking on the pantomime role can inspire certain players to perform even better, in the case of the Frenchman in the Europa League game, he produced a rather woeful showing. As per Sofascore, the former Lorient man lost possession ten times, failed to complete five long balls, and was dribbled past three times. And after watching him struggle in Belgium, Arsenal fans took to Twitter to voice their frustrations with the midfielder.

Many supporters of the north London side slammed his use of the ball in particular, with a few chastising him for constantly playing it backwards rather than trying to move the team forward.

A couple of supporters even labelled him as "overrated" and that the hype surrounding him has simply gone too far.

In only his second season in English football, and still only at 20-years-old, it is difficult to be overly critical of Guendouzi. The Frenchman is playing in a side that is struggling as a whole, and it is little surprise to see him suffer somewhat. If the Gunners can get firing again, then their floppy-haired midfielder could pick his own form up too.

Meanwhile, Arsenal's duo of Nicolas Pepe and Gabriel Martinelli added one key ingredient in the win over West Ham.
