Robin van Persie was once a cult-hero of Arsenal, until he burned his bridges with the Gunners by moving to Manchester United, becoming public enemy number one -  until Cesc Fabregas signed for Chelsea, that is.

Ahead of his return to English football tonight in the Europa League - Turkish giants Fenerbahce travel to face Manchester United - the Dutch international has irked Arsenal fans on Twitter with some controversial comments in which he called the Manchester club "home".

Considering he made 277 appearances for Arsenal and just 105 for Manchester United, it's quite a strange comment and, understandably, Gunners fans are furious - although some of them stated they couldn't care less, having cut ties to their former captain long ago.

It will still add salt to the wounds, which have only recently started to heal, of Gooners and the pain is unlikely to be fully gone until Arsenal finally get their hands on the Premier League crown that has eluded them since they went unbeaten in the 2003/04 season.
