Arsenal fans hit out at ArsenalFanTV for supporting England

It is easy to get swept up in the World Cup craze surrounding England at the moment, particularly after they reached the quarter-finals of the tournament in Russia on Tuesday night.

Premier League clubs are likely to be in support of the nation given that they are England-based, but that is not to say that the supporters of those clubs are England fans, and some of Arsenal’s following have taken issue with it.

The Three Lions booked their place in the final eight courtesy of a tense penalty shootout against Colombia.

Gareth Southgate’s side won 4-3 from the spot after extra-time finished all square at 1-1.

It is the first time that England have won a penalty shootout at a World Cup, and they will hope to continue progressing when they face Sweden in the quarter-finals on Saturday.

ArsenalFanTV congratulated the team on Twitter, despite having only one representative in the squad – Danny Welbeck – who has made just one substitute appearance during the competition.

Some Arsenal fans were not impressed by the fan account’s support, and they made it clear in their comments on Twitter.
