Jack Wilshere sported the captain's armband in Arsenal's 3-0 win over Stoke City in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The England midfielder is yet to sign a new contract with the Gunners, but was given the armband against the Potters at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger shuffled his pack ahead of Thursday's Europa League clash with CSKA Moscow, but Wilshere was included, as was Welshman Aaron Ramsey.

The 27-year-old, who has seven goals and 10 assists to his name this term, is also yet to sign a new contract with the Gunners, and his current deal will expire at the end of next season.

Ramsey is a hugely popular figure with the Arsenal supporters, however, and many have claimed that the Wales international should be appointed club captain for the 2018-19 campaign.

It is promising to be a summer of change at the Emirates Stadium, and Ramsey, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea in recent weeks, has been identified as the player to lead the club into potentially a new era.
