Joel Campbell had become the forgotten man at Arsenal having failed to land a regular spot in the team.
The 25-year-old forward has been part of the club since 2011, but has been sent out on loan six times, with the most recent being a stint at Real Betis.
During that spell, Campbell made just nine appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and creating a single assist.
At the World Cup in Russia, the forward played in two of Costa Rica’s three group matches.
The nation were unable to make it into the knockout phase, but the forward’s performance against Switzerland on Wednesday caught the eye of Arsenal fans.

Campbell, who has earned 77 caps for his country, was positioned out wide for the encounter, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
The attacker’s ability on the ball prompted some Arsenal supporters to urge manager Unai Emery to give the player a chance this season.
Wish we’d bring back Joel Campbell, he’s better than Iwobi

Arsenal should try and extend Campbell’s contract, @least with a new manager onboard.

Worse players than Joel Campbell have played regularly for Arsenal over the years.

#Campbell showed his quality today. Could be that he might finally finds a club that can get all his potential unleashed. He has great dribbling skills. For sure could get on some scout sheets tonight. #Arsenal Don´t see #Emery planning with him to be honest.

Joel Campbell deserves game time and a new contract at Arsenal. Has pace, a football brain, good left foot and can dribble. None of our current wide players come close.

Joel Campbell once again proving to be such a great player. Arsenal should try to keep him at any cost. Ofcourse starting 11 won’t be guaranteed so it depends on Campbell as well.
