Arsenal fans lavish praise on Edu

Former Brazil international Edu joined Arsenal from Corinthians in 2001, and the midfielder went on to make 79 Premier League appearances for the Gunners.

He was a part of the team that managed to go through the entire 2003-04 Premier League campaign unbeaten, and actually appeared in 30 of the club’s 38 league fixtures that term.

Edu is not often picked out when that particular side is discussed, but there is no question that he played his part in what was a remarkable season.

Edu managed seven Premier League goals for the Gunners before leaving to join Spanish outfit Valencia in 2005 – spending four years with the club before returning to Corinthians.

It was the Brazilian’s 40th birthday on Tuesday, and Arsenal’s official Twitter account was on hand to pay tribute to the club’s former midfielder.

As expected, the Arsenal fans, who have also been discussing the latest rumours surrounding Mikel Arteta, were out in their numbers to lavish praise on Edu, with many claiming that his value was never fully understood.
