The quality of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's performances at Arsenal cannot be understated.

Sometimes, when players are not featuring in the Champions League week-in week-out, they can often be forgotten about. However, despite not playing in the competition neither last season nor this, the Gabon international is still one of the best strikers in the world.

In just 73 games for the Gunners, he has 49 goals. Of course, that follows a superb spell at Borussia Dortmund, where he netted 141 in 213.

Die Schwarzgelben's CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke does not seem too grateful to the former Saint-Etienne forward, though.

Instead, he has chosen to question the motives behind the 30-year-old's transfer to north London, suggesting that he went there for the money.

He told Suddeutsche Zeitung: "Of course it is hard to keep a player in the face of such sums. Some go to clubs because of this money, where they have not played Champions League for years.

"[Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, who plays great at Arsenal, will probably be warm-hearted when he looks at his bank account, but on Wednesdays will be saddened when he has to watch the Champions League on television."

It seems the Emirates Stadium outfit's number 14 was far from happy with the comments, and in reponse, he called Watzke a "clown".

The Arsenal fans seem to have loved the riposte, and they have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts. You can see some of the best comments from the social media platform below.
