Arsenal are one of six Premier League clubs monitoring Norwich City midfielder James Maddison ahead of the summer transfer window, according to The Telegraph.

It is easy to understand why a number of top-flight outfits are interested in signing the 21-year-old given the season that he has had.

Many would argue that playing at Championship level is a different animal to the demands of the Premier League, but Maddison has still managed to score 15 goals for the Canaries.

The Telegraph claims that Arsenal, as well as Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Manchester City, are considering a summer move that could cost in the region of £25m.

There is no doubt that the Gunners need to refresh their team following another dismal Premier League campaign that could see them finishing outside of the top four for the second season running.

Questions have mainly been asked of Arsene Wenger's defence, with Shkodran Mustafi taking the brunt of the Twitter criticism.

On two occasions recently - against Southampton and Newcastle United - the German was caught out at his near post.

It is certainly an area that needs addressing, but these latest reports about Maddison suggest that Arsenal are also focusing on adding some zip to the midfield.

Once the rumours emerged, supporters tweeted their reactions.
