Proud Arsenal fans on Twitter have heaped praise on midfielder Granit Xhaka after a heart-warming video was posted via the club's official account on the social media platform.

The video celebrated World Down Syndrome Day as the 26-year-old welcomed his young friend Julian who suffers from the disorder to the Gunners' Colney training base.

Xhaka knows the young boy from his Borussia Monchengladbach days and has always followed and supported his story, inviting the eight-year-old to train and spend time with Unai Emery's squad.

Tugging at the heartstrings of not just Gunners but all football fans, the video tells the story of the classy Austrian's friendship with the boy.

Arsenal supporters absolutely loved it with one commenting that "Xhaka knows what football should be about," whilst another alluded to the fact that not many other professional footballers that are like this when it comes to things of this nature.

Whereas, a  group also called for the "amazing" Xhaka to be named club captain for his fantastic actions off and on the pitch.
