Many Arsenal fans on Twitter have been giving their reactions to a rumour stating that their club has put in a proposal to sign Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini.
Italian journalist Nicolo Schira claimed that the Gunners, their bitter north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and both Milan teams are interested in the 23-year-old.
His release clause of £26.7m can be paid in two instalments of £13.35m but his current club are trying to get him to sign a new contract that would install him as vice-captain and remove that release clause, per the original source.
Pellegrini is a central midfielder capable of occupying the dead centre of the field, dropping back to protect his defence in holding midfield or moving further forward to join the attacks in central attacking midfield.
And Gunners offered mixed views as to whether they want the three-cap Italy international after Schira’s claims were posted by a fan account.
Arsenal & Tottenham have both made proposals to sign AS Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, who has a €30m release clause, which can be paid in two installments of €15m, but Roma are working on renewing the Italian’s contract to remove the clause. [@NicoSchira] #afc pic.twitter.com/9x4g5jW3vE

So many players being linked. Nothing can be confirmed until the actual end. We need a defender anyway
