Arsenal fans on Twitter were calling for Alex Iwobi to start ahead of Aaron Ramsey from now on after the Nigerian changed the game when coming off the bench against Watford on Saturday.
Welshman Ramsey has had a long-running contract saga at the Emirates and it now seems as though he will not sign a new deal, with his current one ending at the end of the season. Against Watford, he was almost non-existent and it looked as though the week in the spotlight had taken its toll on the midfielder.
Iwobi was introduced by new boss Unai Emery just after the hour mark, and with 10 minutes to play it was he who provided the cross that defender Craig Cathcart turned into his own net to break the deadlock.
The 22-year-old Arsenal academy graduate was full of running and creative intent after coming off the bench and changed the game in the favour of the Gunners, when the result had looked in the balance for so long. Check out some of the best tweets below, with many fans calling for him to replace Ramsey in the starting XI from now on.
