It was a productive summer in the transfer market for Arsenal in the end.
One of the faces of the club, Josh Kroenke, has been talking about the reasons behind the difference in transfer policy, claiming the performance in the Europa League final, in which they lost 4-1 to Chelsea, caused the change in thinking.
Could Gabriel Martinelli become Arsenal’s star striker in the not too distant future? Deluded Gooner thinks so in the video below…
“As the second half of the match unfolded, understanding the position we were in and some of the targets as we headed into the summer from a transfer standpoint, we had to rethink some of our strategy based on that last 45 minutes,” he said.
The 39-year-old spoke to BBC Sport about a number of subjects in an extensive interview.
Generally, the Kroenke name is not met with much positivity by the Arsenal fans, and Stan Kroenke in particular has often come under fire. However, it appears that the Gunners supporters are impressed with Josh, and have taken to Twitter to praise him following the interview.

Owners aren’t required to speak openly to the media or respond to abuse, online or in stadium. Glad to see Josh Kroenke is trying to build a bridge to the supporters.

Really happy with Josh Kroenke coming out AGAIN. Really feels like there’s a new aura around arsenal and I love it. Granted it’s only words but he backed his words up in the summer so if he keeps doing it we can’t complain.. in the words of josh. BE EXCITED ??? #joshkroenke

“We’ve got to evaluate some things in the short term and figure out where we might need to address going forward, so when January does roll around we’re going to be proactive again.”

Credit where credit is due to Josh Kroenke for taking the opportunity to do what his father Stan had absolutely NO intention of doing whatsoever and by personally addressing the @Arsenal fans about his vision and optimistic ideas for the club.
Alas, time will tell. ??#COYG
