Arsenal have crowned their Player of the Month for September and this month's winner is the French midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.

After arriving at the Emirates from Lorient for just £8m, the 20-year-old has been a surprise package and his performances during September have helped him pick up the club award.

His performance against Manchester United, in which the Gunners earned a 1-1 draw, was the one game during the month that the Frenchman attracted huge praise, with former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas saying that he has a "big future" at Arsenal, per Metro. Per Mertesacker has also said that the youngster is expected to be a "future leader".

Guendouzi has picked up two assists in his first eight Premier League games and played just the once in this season's Europa League. He has also accumulated a passing accuracy of 87.4% which has been key to why the Gunners currently sit third in the Premier League table.

Arsenal supporters were delighted that Guendouzi had picked up the award, with some echoing the words of Mertesacker by describing him as a "future captain".
