Arsenal's reported January transfer target Kostas Manolas, rated at £31.5m by Transfermarkt, suffered a defensive nightmare in AS Roma's 5-2 defeat against Liverpool in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie at Anfield on Tuesday night, and Gunners fans were quick to have their say on his performance.

Reliable BBC journalist David Ornstein tweeted on January 31 that the north London outfit were considering a move for Manolas, but no deal materialised before the window slammed shut.

It is unclear whether they could reignite their interest in the 26-year-old this summer however, with central defence looking to be one of the priority positions for strengthening for Arsene Wenger's successor, with Shkodran Mustafi coming under huge criticism from fans on Twitter in recent weeks.

Arsenal supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on Manolas' latest display, and while one said "Manolas is worse than Mustafi", another said they would "rather play Koscielny on crutches".
