Arsenal fans react as Granit Xhaka captains Switzerland to huge 5-2 win over Belgium

Switzerland secured a spot in next summer’s UEFA Nations League finals as they completed an astonishing comeback from 2-0 down to emerge 5-2 victors over Belgium on Sunday.

Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka captained the winning side and was influential at the heart of the Swiss midfield as the Schweizer Nati did the unthinkable in toppling a Red Devils side that featured the likes of Thorgan and Eden Hazard – the former of whom scored twice early on.

Former Borussia Monchengladbach man Xhaka recorded an impressive 95.4% passing success rate and also mopped up effectively for his side as he completed 2 interceptions (WhoScored) to score a match rating of 7.

The 26-year-old is a rollercoaster of a player – capable of giving fans moments to shout and scream about for both good and bad reasons. Perfect examples of which would be his rocket of a free-kick versus Crystal Palace, and then his defensive blunder to give the same opposition a spot-kick through which they equalised.

Gunners fans, though, were pleased to see the midfielder on good form in the international break and here’s how they reacted on Twitter.
