Arsenal fans react on Twitter as club announces Sven Mislintat departure

Arsenal released a club statement on Monday announcing that Head of Recruitment Sven Mislintat will be leaving the club on February 8th, and Gunners fans were quick to react to the news on Twitter.

The German scout has overseen the arrivals of new signings such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and Sokratis during his time at the helm, working in conjunction with both Arsene Wenger and Unai Emery.

Arsenal enjoyed a 22-match unbeaten run between August and December and despite results being patchy since then, they did beat rivals Chelsea 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.

According to a report in The Independent, sources close to the club have suggested that the relationship between Mislintat and Head of Football Raul Sanllehi had not gone as smoothly as expected, while the former Borussia Dortmund man is also said to have been surprised by the influence Emery was allowed to have on new signings.

Gunners supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on the news, and while one said “this is a big mistake”, another said “announce what date Kroenke will be leaving us”.

It seems like that’s the ‘Arsenal way’. If you want to leave, nobody will stand in your way. Fabregas, Nasri, Adebayor, Van Persie, Gazidis, Ramsey & now Mislintat. Whether playing staff or other, no real effort is made to retain them it seems.
