With the next international break just around the corner Didier Deschamps’ 23-man France squad has been released and, much to the surprise of many football fans, Arsenal’s in-form striker Alexandre Lacazette is missing from it.
The number 9 has chalked up five goals and three assists (four if you count his handball at Crystal Palace) in the league so far this season as Unai Emery has overseen the fruition of a mouthwatering partnership with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Leading the line for the Gunners, the 27-year-old’s October exploits saw him nominated for Arsenal’s player of the month and his brilliantly taken goal against Liverpool last week kept his side’s 14-game unbeaten streak alive.
The former Lyon man is remarkably still edged out by Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud, who has yet to score in the Premier League this season, but Arsenal fans are not too incensed by the Deschamps’ decision.
Here’s how they reacted on Twitter.
Honestly I don't mind one bit, fixtures are coming in thick and fast…we need him fresh and ready… If he keeps his good form. He will eventually get in there
