Carl Jenkinson's inclusion in the squad to face Sporting Lisbon in tonight's clash was a surprise one for many Arsenal fans, despite the fact that Gunners are missing their first three left-back choices because of injury.

The former Charlton man last made an appearance for the north London outfit nearly two years ago after a number of injuries, loan spells and generally not being favoured have kept him out of the squad.

Both Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac are ruled out due to the same issues that kept them out of the Leicester game on Monday night and third choice left-back Ainsley Maitland-Niles is still recovering from a leg fracture suffered in August.

Veteran right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner deputised against the Foxes and struggled against the pace of Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho, but looks set to retain his starting spot as Unai Emery's side travel to Lisbon for their Europa League battle with 18-time Primeira Liga champions, Sporting Lisbon.
