A number of Arsenal fans have been reacting on social media after Football.London's James Benge claimed Granit Xhaka will apologise for the events seen against Crystal Palace, but only when he is in the right frame of mind.

The 27-year-old reacted angrily when supporters jeered his substitution early in the second-half of the Gunners' Premier League draw with Palace, with the Switzerland international throwing the captain's armband to the ground before storming off down the tunnel.

Boss Unai Emery has stated that Arsenal's priority is now to see that Xhaka recovers to the best version of himself, as Sunday's events have left the midfielder distraught.

The Spaniard noted earlier in the week that Xhaka regrets his response to the supporters' jeers, and will have the Gunners' support in returning to a better state of mind, whether that be requiring sports psychologists, mental health experts or anything else.

Emery added that the North London outfit will suggest that Xhaka apologises, but one will not be forthcoming immediately as he is down in himself.

Arsenal fans have been reacting to news that Xhaka will apologise for his behaviour in Sunday's events in varying ways, with one supporter noting the 27-year-old's decision to alter his Instagram profile.

The 80-cap international has scrubbed the mention of being Arsenal captain from his social media profile, and deleted his previous display photo showing the midfielder in a Gunners jersey with the armband on to one of him representing Switzerland.
