Arsenal fans instantly took to Twitter after last night’s 0-0 draw against Sporting Lisbon to send their best wishes to Danny Welbeck, after the forward suffered a horror ankle injury midway through the first half.
The England international has made only seven starts this season as a result of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette’s form, with only one of those coming in the Premier League.
In fairness, the 27-year-old has taken his chances when they’ve come, scoring five goals in the games he’s played, but his latest injury is another cruel twist of fate for a player so unlucky with finding consistent fitness.
The former Manchester United ace was issued oxygen by the Gunners’ medical staff before leaving the Emirates pitch on a stretcher, as former teammate Nani offered his support whilst current teammate Matteo Guendouzi looked on almost in tears.
Any potential January move away for the striking ace now looks all but off.
Let’s take a look at how fans of the north London side reacted…
I’ve said this before and I’ll say another 1,000 times. Until you’ve gone through it, the trauma of severe injuries mentally is soul destroying. Hope Welbeck can do this for the third time, but so so hard.

Seeing you like this just breaks my heart… Get well soon @DannyWelbeck ♥ we're all with you! 💪 Waiting on your salt bae celebration when you score your next goal like you did last time you were out! #Welbeck #DatGuy https://t.co/A1G8lE7QFW

I just wish him all the best in recovering and getting back on the pitch strong. All the best Welbz. Such unfortunate circumstances when it comes to injuries but he's always been a strong lad who always comes back fighting. #AFC #Welbeck pic.twitter.com/objeYfIfQ0

I’m so gutted for Welbeck. Every time he puts a run of decent performances together he always seems to end up sidelined with a lengthy injury. However, he’s come back before, so hopefully he can do it again. It’s nice to see the players/staff offering him so much support.

The horrible thing about Welbeck was he was playing for a contract and doing well at that.
