Arsenal rounded off their tour of the USA with a mixed performance in Washington D.C, taking Real Madrid to penalties, though surrendering a 2-0 half-time lead in the process.

The Gunners made a fast start to proceedings as Alexandre Lacazette scored from the penalty spot before setting up Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who doubled his side’s lead.

Gareth Bale and Marco Asensio were the architects of Madrid’s fight-back at a point where both clubs were down to ten men. Despite the depleted numbers, Arsenal fans weren’t impressed with one of their starting players.

The Switzerland international, tipped by Unai Emery to be one of his captains for the upcoming campaign, has a tendency to be rash with his decision-making but also sloppy in possession, shown by his 139 fouls since arriving in England, while also making seven errors leading to goals.

It seems with a new season to come and a brand new kit to enjoy, fans aren’t wiping the slate clean with their midfielder.

Here’s what the Gunners faithful on Twitter had to say about Xhaka’s performance vs Madrid…
