The search for a new defender at Arsenal continues. Unai Emery's side have seemingly been on the hunt for some defensive reinforcements for the entire summer, but have seen their attempts so far fail to come to fruition.

Reports in recent weeks had suggested the Gunners were very much interested in Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney and had seen a bid in the region of £15m turned down for the Scotland international.

Now, The Daily Record claim the north London club have "baulked" at Celtic's £25m valuation of the defender and that has led to them keeping tabs on Milan left-back Ricardo Rodriguez - reportedly available for £14m.

After hearing the news their team could be trying to tie up a deal for a cheaper alternative to Tierney, Gunners fans took to Twitter to voice their discontent about their side's transfer planning.

Many Arsenal supporters felt stunned that the club were even contemplating settling for anyone other than Tierney, and labelled it "embarrassing" that £25m was deemed to be too much.

Indeed, some admitted that a move for Rodriguez would represent a significant drop in quality and felt that they would actually be better off sticking with what they already had at the Emirates.
