After signing a bumper new deal in January 2018, Mesut Ozil has flattered to deceive for Arsenal on more occasions than one.
The German World Cup winner was seemingly not in Unai Emery’s plans in the first-half of the season and was even dropped for the away game against Bournemouth because the Gunners manager felt he wasn’t ready for the “physicality and intensity” of the game.
Reports in recent weeks had suggested that the north London side would be making Ozil available for a move away this summer, but in an update from the Daily Mail, the 30-year-old is likely to stay at the Emirates due to a lack of offers.

The news saw Arsenal fans take to Twitter and many bemoaned the fact Ozil would still be at the club next season and urged someone to take him off their hands.
Indeed, some were left seemingly unsurprised by the situation and pointed to his below-par performances last year as a major reason why other clubs were perhaps looking past him.
However, fans of the German playmaker expressed their relief at the fact Ozil could stay and hoped he would now kick on in his second year under Emery and get back to his best form.

we need to respect his decision, bc he’s under contract with us and he’s seeing his contract through as promised, I sincerely hope he regain his form and help Arsenal progress next season!

Not surprised. He hardly put himself in the shop window with his performances last season, did he?
