Arsenal fans rip into Henrikh Mkhitaryan after opening clash against Newcastle

Arsenal’s performance against Newcastle on Sunday afternoon left a lot to be desired as the Gunners struggled for much creativity before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s opener.

One of the reasons was because of Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s inability to pick the lock of the Newcastle defence.

He made some promising progressive runs but regularly gave the ball away in a display which left a host of supporters incredibly angry with his performance.

Fans took to Twitter during the game to lay into the Armenian who missed Arsenal’s last competitive match because of security reasons.

One individual said the attacking midfielder should just retire whilst another said he was pathetically poor.

Others decided to focus on the £200k a week wage he’s earning at the club as a fan claimed he was robbing a living. A further tweeter said they couldn’t wait to get him off the books at Arsenal.

Premiership Picks

Mkhitaryan scored six goals in the Premier League last term whilst also claiming four assists. Despite that, his displays in Arsenal colours have never been too convincing.

His performance against the Magpies on Sunday summed that up.

Here’s the best of the discussion.
