Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the 3-0 win over Blackpool in the FA Cup, with the topic of whether or not Carl Jenkinson should start at right-back over Stephan Lichtsteiner being a major talking point.
The veteran Swiss defender started the win over the Seasiders at centre-back, with forgotten man Jenkinson taking over at right-back, but the pair’s contrasting performances had fans questioning whether or not the 26-year-old should be ahead of Lichtsteiner in Unai Emery’s team selection on a more regular basis.
34-year-old Lichtsteiner, signed from Juventus in the summer, has failed to convince fans of his ability at right-back in his 14 starts across all competitions this season, with his athleticism a worrying aspect of his game.
The win against Blackpool was nothing more than a formality, so fans had the chance to question the finer details of the game, with the debate over who should be Emery’s preferred right-back being the main talking point…
Whilst we have to trust the new regime, we do have to ask who on earth scouted and sanctioned Lichtsteiner?
He’s truly awful. Jenkinson is better.

Jenkinson >>>> Lichsteiner
We've overpaid for Lichsteiner and he was free.

I would also play Jenkinson over Lichensteiner at RB going forward

The second goal shows that Jenkinson is miles better then Lichsteiner. Lichsteiner would have gone back to the gk. Would rather play Jenko over Lichsteiner in all competitions for the rest of the season tbh.

Jenkinson is a better RB than Lichtsteiner. Don't know why Emery keeps starting Lichtsteiner every time from start #AFC

Never thought I'd say this but Jenkinson>Lichsteiner at RB
