Thierry Henry is widely regarded as an Arsenal legend, but he landed in some hot water from fans over the last few days following Alexis Sanchez’s exit.
The Chile international ended speculation surrounding his future by joining Manchester United in a swap deal that involved Henrikh Mkhitaryan moving to the Emirates.
Sanchez’s demeanour in his final few games for Arsenal attracted criticism from the crowds.
However, the majority did not want one of their best players to leave, particularly midway through the window.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Sanchez seemed to suggest that Henry had helped encourage him to join United.
“I remember today, a conversation I had with Henry, a historic Arsenal player, who changed club for the same reason and today is my turn.”
The remark sparked anger among some Arsenal supporters, so much so that Henry had to issue a denial via Twitter.
I know I don’t need to explain this to the majority of Arsenal fans but contrary to speculation at no time did I tell Alexis Sanchez to leave Arsenal. I had no idea he was going to sign for Man Utd until I saw it on the news like the rest of you.

Sanchez also took to social media to clarify the comments, insisting that the Sky Sports pundit did not push for him to leave.
The 29-year-old added that he hopes to see Henry as Arsenal manager in the future.
I want to clarify that Henry never told me to leave the club, it was a personal decision … he LOVES the club and someday it would be nice to see him as the arsenal coach because he loves the club …

Arsenal have one of the most idiotic fan bases in world football. To suggest that Arsenal should take down the statue of the club's greatest ever player is beyond absurd. #afc

Can't believe how many are attacking Henry. Choosing to believe Sanchez first. One an #AFC Invincible. The other, a player who was part of a squad who dropped #AFC to 6th place. Not to mention the ManU childhood dreams BS. Tsk. Tsk.

Thierry Henry has been and still is one of the most important figures at Arsenal in recent history. Arsenal are still such a popular destination for top players because of the historic players like Henry who made these players love Arsenal, doesn’t deserve the hate. #TheKing #AFC

So first we blamed Alexis for dragging Henry.
Then we blamed Henry for influencing Alexis.
And then when Alexis came clear, we are accusing him for telling Lies.
So what do we want exactly? #AFC

I don’t think Henry would force any player out of the club. But whatever was said between him & Alexis should have stayed behind closed doors, Sanchez couldn’t even give a good farewell to the club and fans that supported him, yet he criticized a former legend instead.. #AFC https://t.co/YL7xGGXoqe
