Arsenal given double fitness boost

Arsenal have been boosted by the news that both Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey are nearing a return to full fitness, according to the Daily Mirror.

Welsh midfielder Ramsey has been missing since Boxing Day, but could be available for the FA Cup semi-final clash with Wigan on Saturday week.

That fixture is likely to come too soon for club record £42million signing Ozil, but he should be available soon after.

The German international suffered a hamstring injury during last months Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, and has now stepped up his rehabilitation.

That could prove a lift for the Gunners who had expected the 25-year-old to be out of action for longer, but now he looks set to join their fight for a top four finish and their bid to end their nine year trophy drought.

Meanwhile, Ramsey was expected to return to full training today, and has a chance of making the squad for the FA Cup semi final after recovering from a thigh injury that kept him out of action for just over three months.

Arsenal will be without Theo Walcott (knee) and Jack Wilshere (broken foot) for the remainder of the campaign however.
