Whilst Arsenal have endured a difficult season thus far from a defensive point of view – they have already conceded 31 goals in just 22 Premier League games – they have arguably made an even worse start with their form in front of goal. The Gunners have found the back of the net just 29 times in the top-flight, meaning that they have a minus two goal difference at past the half-way stage of the campaign.
Unsurprisingly, the Gunners have been linked with some options to potentially help in that department, and according to The Daily Mirror, the north Londoners have earmarked Milan’s Hakan Calhanoglu as a possible candidate.

The report claims Mikel Arteta’s side are interested in making a loan swoop for the Turkey international in this January transfer window, with the attacking midfielder’s club ready to let him go.
Can you name all of these obscure Arsenal signings? Give it a go now!
After hearing about their links to Calhanoglu, Arsenal fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the man who has scored just two goals this season, with many seemingly fuming about the situation.
Calhanoglu is soooooo overrated!! Watched him in all his international matches.. he’s sooo frustrating to watch.

Some Gunners fans felt that Calhanoglu wouldn’t represent an upgrade on Mesut Ozil, with one supporter in particular describing the former as a “poor man’s” version of the German.
This guy is just a poor man’s ozil.Dont even get me started on the real ozil lol

Some Gunners supporters instead expressed their wish to see Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech be signed, with one fan urging the club to “go all out for him”.

With his ability to play in numerous different positions – he has played more than 50 professional games in central midfield, attacking midfield and as a left-winger – Calhanoglu represents a versatile option that could significantly boost Arsenal’s strength in depth. Injuries could see the 25-year-old be used by Arteta in a variety of different roles, and as just a loan deal, it would represent a shrewd piece of business.
